ILKESTON TOWN FOOTBALL CLUB

On his 44th birthday on 14th May 2008, Chek became the new owner of Ilkeston Town Football Club. Ilkeston born and bred, Chek has admitted to, “having no knowledge and understanding of football,” but won't let this stand in his way and stop him turning Ilkeston Town into, “more than just a football club.”

After the death of Paul Millership, Ilkeston Town's former long-time benefactor and chairman in November 2007, Chek was approached by the club. The thinking behind the purchase is to support Ilkeston Town and its surrounding communities through developing the community side and youth set-up of the club. Already 400 children have joined the club, an under-19 squad is now in place and an application has been submitted for an academy status.

Delighted with the local support, Chek has now appointed Dennis Harris as chairman. With new manager David Holdsworth being appointed on 20th May 2008, and new players being signed, Chek's aim is to promote Ilkeston Town Football Club to the top of the non-league football.
